Frequently Asked Questions
Membership
What is The Conservatory Letters?
The Conservatory Letters is a monthly analog mail club for those who long to slow down and make a little more room for themselves. Each month, you'll receive a thoughtfully crafted letter by post, filled with original writings, paper treasures, and little delights—all created to invite more beauty, joy, belonging, and reflection into everyday life.
What does membership include?
At the heart of each month’s mailing is a thoughtfully composed letter sent by post, accompanied by an original photograph or piece of artwork. What surrounds it changes from month to month—reflection questions, stickers, bookmarks, recipes, paper ephemera, a playlist to accompany the month, and other small treasures chosen to complement the month’s theme. No two envelopes are quite the same, and part of the delight is not knowing exactly what you’ll find inside.
How much does membership cost?
Membership is $12.00 per month for members in the United States, and $15.00 per month for international members, billed monthly. There are no contracts and no minimum commitment—though we hope, once you have received your first letter, that you will wish to remain.
Can I gift a membership?
Yes. The Conservatory Letters can be given as a prepaid three-month season or a full year of letters—a thoughtful way to give someone something to look forward to each month.
Their letters will be sent directly to their postbox each month, with U.S. shipping included. Gift memberships are paid in full at the time of purchase and do not automatically renew.
Can I cancel my membership? Are memberships refundable?
You may cancel your membership at any time, and you will not be charged again. Because The Conservatory Letters is a physical mail membership prepared especially for our subscribers, membership payments are non-refundable. If you choose to cancel, your membership will simply end before your next renewal.
Is membership available internationally?
Yes. The Conservatory Letters sends correspondence to members wherever in the world they are. International membership is $15.00 per month, which includes postage. Please allow additional time for delivery outside of the United States.
The Letters
When does the letter arrive?
Letters are mailed on the 22nd of each month, with a monthly sign-up cutoff of the 15th.
If you join on or before the 15th, your first letter will be mailed on the 22nd of that same month. If you join after the 15th, your first letter will be mailed on the 22nd of the following month.
For example: If you join August 1–15, your first letter will be mailed August 22. If you join after August 15, your first letter will be mailed September 22.
Please allow up to 14 business days for U.S. letters and up to 21 business days for international letters after receiving your mailing confirmation.
If your letter still hasn’t found its way to you after that time, please get in touch at hello@theconservatoryletters.com or through our contact form, and I’ll be happy to help.
What happens if my letter doesn’t arrive?
Part of the charm of snail mail is its slower pace — and the anticipation of finding something waiting for you in the mailbox. Most letters arrive within a week or two, though occasionally the post takes a little longer.
If you’re in the U.S. and it’s been more than two weeks since your letter was mailed, please reach out. We’ll be happy to send a replacement.
Before getting in touch, take a quick look at your account to make sure your mailing address is correct. Even the smallest typo can send a letter on an unexpected adventure.
What is the letter about?
Each month explores a different theme inspired by the seasons of life and the things we find ourselves thinking about along the way—making space, noticing beauty, beginning again, belonging, rest, creativity, home, friendship, and the small moments that shape our days.
Some letters may be thoughtful, some practical, some a little whimsical, but each is written to offer a moment to slow down, reflect, and perhaps see something familiar in a new way.
What are the reflection questions?
Each letter is accompanied by carefully chosen questions for journaling and contemplation. These are not prompts in the self-help sense — they are invitations. An invitation to sit with something longer than we usually allow ourselves to. They are designed to be returned to across the month, not answered in a single sitting.
What are the occasional keepsakes?
From time to time, something extra will accompany the letter—a pressed botanical, a notecard, a bookmark, a print, or another small paper treasure. Each is thoughtfully chosen to complement the month’s theme, add a little delight to the experience, and perhaps become something you’ll want to tuck away and keep—or thoughtfully pass along to delight someone else.
The Philosophy
Why letters by post?
There is something particular about a letter that arrives by post. It has been held. It has traveled. Someone composed it with you in mind, sealed it, addressed it, and sent it into the world on your behalf. In an age of instant communication, the letter is an act of intention. It says: this is worth the time. You are worth the time.
Who is The Conservatory Letters for?
The Conservatory Letters is for those who long to slow down—to make a little more room for themselves, notice what is beautiful, and spend a little less time rushing through their days. It is for those who still find something special in an envelope arriving by post, who value reflection and creativity, and who delight in the small, thoughtful things that make an ordinary day feel a little less ordinary.
The letters are written from a woman’s perspective, but The Conservatory is a place for everyone. If something here speaks to you, you are warmly welcome.
